Competitions as a whole

Competitions are a scary thing to participate in. I have since tried to avoid them due to the amount of preparation and dedication it takes to even participate. However, someone I know took part in a powerlifting competition. So let me drop you into his story of his training, determination for this hobby and his growth over time.

Just like some competitions, there are certain requirements which must be met in order to participate. With requirements come with challenges in which Bima from class PF2331 must face in order to participate in this competition. One criterion which needed to be fulfilled is the weight criteria, in which you need to reach a certain amount of weight before participating in this competition. And in order to maintain said weight, Bima has needed to constantly manage the intake of his nutrients and protein in order to maintain said weight and enter the competition.

Training and Cooking

Just like any competition, there must be some sort of training or work needed to be put in to ensure good results. And that’s exactly what Bima has done. With him constantly going to the gym, making meals in order to reach a certain caloric level in order to have enough nutrients, protein etc, Bima tries his best to not slack or else all of his hard work would be like a toilet bowl, flushing away all his efforts and hard work. Aside from his self-made meals, his gym plan may also be disrupted due to him sharing gym equipment in the public gym which may affect his overall physique due to time constraints. Additionally, with all these to consider, he has to juggle these factors with the fact that he may not even be chosen for the event. With his gym closing at 10pm every day, Bima always rushes to the gym for training, before coming home to do his work and rest. “It takes time to get used to but once you get a routine it isn’t that hard”. With all the maintenance and schoolwork pilling up like stool in a toilet bowl, giving up has definitely come across his mind. However, he stays determined through it all. With an enthusiasm and a love for self-improvement, he constantly reminds himself how much he wants to improve and overall win the competition.

Holding People Up

As much as I hold Bima up to be an amazing person with him balancing his powerlifting hobby and school life, he holds other people up to his success and his improvement as a powerlifter himself. “I have met many people during my comp prep, and they always supported me with any decision regarding powerlifting and everything related.” With him actually stating that he only started enjoying powerlifting while preparing for the competition due to the amount of support he received from the community.

Another try.

Unfortunately for Bima, he got disqualified from the competition. He was winning up till deadlifts, in which he sadly did not make any attempts in. However, this isint deterring him from any sense of loss as he still keeps up his training regime in hopes of reclaiming his title in hopes of winning another competition. When asked for any advice, Bima replied “Try your best to keep consistent and find a balance between gym school and whatever else you like to do.” Knowing he isn’t giving up, I genuinely look forward to another competition in which I can only hope the man himself Bima, would step up to take the challenge again.
